100 W ×2 (8 Ω) · 160 W ×2 (4 Ω) · Class AB / Tube Hybrid · Bi-Wiring · 6 Line Inputs
The Unison Research Unico 90 is a high-fidelity hybrid integrated amplifier that combines the warm, musical character of tubes in the preamp stage with powerful, stable solid-state amplification in Class AB. With 100 W per channel into 8 Ω (160 W into 4 Ω), it provides both elegance and strength.
The input stage uses ECC83 and ECC81 triode tubes in a totem-pole configuration, while the output stage uses thermostable HEXFET transistors. It supports multiple analog inputs, balanced and unbalanced, and features bi-wirable speaker terminals.
Twin-Stage Signal Path — The first stage is a pure Class A tube preamp using ECC83 and ECC81 in a totem-pole configuration. The second stage is a solid-state, thermostable Class AB HEXFET amplifier (3 pairs per channel).
No Global Feedback — Uses only local feedback, preserving the natural character and timing of tube amplification.
Short Signal Paths & High-Grade Components — Designed with tight layout to reduce signal degradation; premium capacitors and transformers ensure musical purity.
“The hybrid circuit delivers both the warmth of tubes and the power of solid-state cleanly.”
“Bi-wiring and no global feedback make this a very musical, yet technically capable amp.”
Unison Research designed the Unico 90 to use only local feedback to maintain more of the natural timing and harmonic character of the tubes, resulting in a more open and musical presentation.
