Yes. The SL-1200GME outputs a phono-level signal and requires a phono preamp (or a phono input on your amplifier) to play records through your system.
This turntable does not come with a factory supplied cartridge. Speak to an Audiolab system advisor for the best match for your needs and your system.
Common first upgrades include a cartridge, phono preamp, isolation platform/feet, and record care. The SL-1200GME is a strong foundation that reveals improvements clearly.
