VRDS CD Mechanism • TEAC ΔΣ 32-Bit Discrete DAC • Dual Monaural Design • USB-C DAC Input • MQA Full Decoder • 10MHz Clock Input • Balanced XLR Outputs • Headphone Amplifier • Preamp Functionality
The TEAC VRDS-701 is a high-performance CD player, USB DAC, digital preamplifier, and headphone amplifier built for serious two-channel systems. Created as part of TEAC’s Reference 700 Series, it combines the brand’s newly developed VRDS disc mechanism with a proprietary TEAC ΔΣ 32-bit discrete DAC for precise, expressive digital playback.
At the heart of the VRDS-701 is TEAC’s Vibration-Free Rigid Disc-Clamping System, designed to reduce disc rotation vibration, stabilize playback, and improve disc-reading accuracy. The unit also functions as a capable digital hub, with USB-C, coaxial, and optical digital inputs, plus coaxial and optical digital outputs for flexible system integration.
With balanced XLR outputs, RCA analog outputs, variable output capability, a built-in headphone amplifier, MQA decoding, PCM support up to 384kHz/32-bit, DSD support up to 22.5MHz, and a 10MHz external clock input, the VRDS-701 is designed for listeners who want a refined single-box digital source without sacrificing system flexibility.
VRDS Disc-Clamping System — TEAC’s VRDS mechanism reduces disc vibration by clamping the CD to an aluminum turntable with the same diameter, helping stabilize rotation and reduce read errors.
Discrete DAC Design — Rather than using an off-the-shelf DAC chip, the VRDS-701 uses TEAC’s proprietary ΔΣ 32-bit discrete DAC architecture with FPGA processing and original algorithms.
Digital Preamp Functionality — Variable XLR and RCA outputs allow the VRDS-701 to connect directly to a power amplifier in many systems.
Flexible Digital Integration — USB-C, coaxial, optical, digital outputs, 12V trigger input/output, and 10MHz clock input make the VRDS-701 suitable for advanced hi-fi and custom installation systems.
No. It functions as a CD player, USB DAC, digital preamplifier, and headphone amplifier.
No. The VRDS-701 supports audio CD and CD-R/CD-RW discs in CD-DA format. It does not support 8cm CDs.
Yes. The VRDS-701 offers variable analog output through XLR and RCA connections, allowing it to function as a digital preamplifier in compatible systems.
Yes. The front-panel 6.3mm headphone output provides up to 500mW + 500mW into 32 ohms.
