The HD 650 uses an open-back acoustic design that allows sound to develop with a more spacious and natural presentation than a typical closed-back headphone. It is designed for focused home listening where sound quality takes priority over isolation.

Matched 42 mm Transducers

Each earcup uses a 42 mm transducer with a 38 mm diaphragm and lightweight aluminum voice coil. Sennheiser matches the transducers to tight production tolerances to maintain consistent performance between the left and right channels, supporting accurate imaging and tonal balance.

Controlled, Natural Sound

A specially designed acoustic damping system uses fine metal mesh to help control the transducer's response. The HD 650 is designed to reveal musical detail without relying on an exaggerated treble presentation, making it particularly suitable for extended listening sessions.

Designed for a Hi-Fi System

With a nominal impedance of 300 ohms, the HD 650 is best suited to equipment capable of properly driving high-impedance headphones. A dedicated headphone amplifier, integrated amplifier with a quality headphone stage, or suitable DAC/headphone amplifier can help the HD 650 perform at its full potential.

Comfort and Long-Term Ownership

The circumaural design surrounds the ear, while replaceable velour ear pads provide a comfortable contact surface for long listening sessions. The detachable cable and modular construction also allow key components to be replaced rather than requiring replacement of the entire headphone.
