The REL Acoustics Planar PL-1 Subwoofer delivers fast, articulate and room-filling low-frequency performance from an enclosure measuring only 5.7 inches deep. Created for smaller and medium-sized listening rooms, its ultra-slim cabinet can integrate naturally beside furniture, close to a wall or directly onto a suitable wall without requiring the floor space of a traditional cube-shaped subwoofer.
Two front-firing 6.5-inch FibreAlloy long-throw drivers work with a rear-mounted 10-inch passive radiator to produce clean, dynamic bass with rated in-room extension down to 31Hz at -6dB. A 300-watt Class D amplifier supplies the speed and control required for music and home theater, while built-in Airship Direct wireless capability, REL high-level connectivity and a dedicated LFE input provide flexible system integration.
Dual FibreAlloy Active Drivers — The REL Acoustics Planar PL-1 Subwoofer uses two front-firing 6.5-inch long-throw drivers developed specifically for its slim enclosure. Operating together, the drivers provide greater radiating area and dynamic impact while maintaining the quick response needed to blend naturally with high-quality main speakers.
Boundary-Coupled Bass — Planar is designed to operate in close relationship with the wall behind it. This boundary reinforces low-frequency energy, allowing the shallow enclosure to create greater weight, scale and extension than its physical depth would ordinarily suggest.
Rear-Firing Passive Radiator — A specially tuned 10-inch FibreAlloy passive radiator extends low-frequency response without using a conventional bass-reflex port. This design avoids port noise and turbulence while using the nearby wall to distribute bass into the listening space.
VIMAR Isolation and Airship Direct — REL’s vibration-management system helps reduce unwanted mechanical energy transfer when the subwoofer is wall mounted. Integrated Airship Direct wireless capability further simplifies installation by allowing compatible high-level or LFE signals to reach the subwoofer without a long signal cable.
Yes. The REL Acoustics Planar PL-1 Subwoofer is designed for wall mounting as well as close-to-wall floor placement. The wall must be structurally capable of supporting the subwoofer, and professional installation is recommended when the wall construction or mounting requirements are uncertain.
Yes. PL-1 includes built-in Airship Direct wireless capability. This allows compatible high-level or LFE information to be sent wirelessly from the audio system to the subwoofer while the subwoofer itself remains connected to AC power.
Yes. REL’s high-level connection is designed to integrate the subwoofer with the tonal character and timing of the main speakers in a stereo system. The dedicated LFE input connects to the subwoofer output of an AV receiver or surround processor for movie soundtracks.
PL-1 uses two 6.5-inch active drivers, a 300-watt amplifier and has rated in-room extension to 31Hz at -6dB. PL-2 uses a larger 8-inch FlatPiston active driver, a 550-watt amplifier and extends to 24Hz at -6dB, making PL-2 better suited to larger rooms and systems requiring deeper bass and greater output.
