The Rega Planar 6 RS Turntable is a special-edition performance deck that pulls key engineering elements from Rega’s higher-tier designs while retaining the familiar Planar 6 form factor and dustcover. Built around an ultra-light, ultra-rigid Tancast 8 foam core plinth with a brushed metal aluminum skin, it is engineered to minimize stored energy, reduce resonance, and create a highly stable platform for the RB880 tonearm and factory-fitted Nd9 moving magnet cartridge.
System note: this RS Edition is designed for listeners who want a complete, higher-spec Planar 6 package with premium tonearm, cartridge, and power-supply upgrades already in place from the factory.
Tancast 8 ultra-light plinth — Rega’s lightweight plinth philosophy focuses on reducing energy storage and unwanted resonance. On the RS Edition, the foam core structure is combined with a premium HPL layer and brushed metal aluminium skin for a stiffer, more refined platform.
RB880 precision tonearm — normally associated with higher-tier Rega models, the RB880 uses a redesigned sleeve, stainless vertical bearing shaft, and highly precise hand-matched bearings to improve rigidity and information retrieval.
24V low-noise motor system — each motor is hand tuned to the Neo MK2 PSU and driven by a custom CNC machined aluminum twin-drive pulley for lower vibration and greater speed accuracy.
Double Brace Technology — strategic bracing between the tonearm mount and main bearing forms a more rigid stressed-beam structure, helping reduce flex while avoiding the unwanted energy storage that can come with heavier plinth designs.
In a carefully matched vinyl system, the Rega Planar 6 RS Turntable is engineered to deliver greater speed precision, cleaner transient behavior, and the low-level detail retrieval expected from a serious analog source.
The RS Edition adds the RB880 tonearm, factory-fitted Nd9 moving magnet cartridge, CNC twin-drive pulley, twin Reference EBLT belts, brushed metal aluminium skin finish, and the matched Neo MK2 PSU as part of the package.
