The Onkyo Muse Y-40 Network Streaming Integrated Amplifier combines powerful stereo amplification, integrated music streaming, television connectivity, and a refined modern interface in a compact two-channel component. Its fully digital architecture and Axign Class-D amplifier with MOSFET output devices deliver 75 watts per channel into 8 ohms or 150 watts per channel into 4 ohms.
Designed to serve as the centerpiece of a modern music system, the Y-40 supports Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Apple AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB storage playback, and compatible network music servers. Its 5.46-inch color LCD displays track information, album artwork, system settings, and an analog-inspired VU meter.
The Onkyo Muse Y-40 Network Streaming Integrated Amplifier also provides three stereo RCA inputs, an MM phono input, optical and coaxial digital inputs, HDMI ARC for compatible televisions, a stereo pre-out, and a front-panel headphone output. Its compact, fanless chassis and premium speaker terminals make it a practical foundation for high-quality bookshelf or floorstanding speaker systems.
Axign Class-D Amplification — The Y-40 uses a fully digital signal path and an Axign Class-D amplifier equipped with MOSFET output devices. This architecture provides substantial output from a compact chassis while maintaining precise control and efficient operation.
Modern Streaming Platform — Built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet support leading streaming platforms and network audio playback. The Onkyo Controller app provides convenient source selection, playback control, and access to system settings.
HDMI ARC Television Integration — The rear-panel HDMI ARC connection allows audio from a compatible television to play through the Y-40 and connected loudspeakers, creating a streamlined two-channel entertainment system.
Traditional and Digital Source Support — The Onkyo Muse Y-40 Network Streaming Integrated Amplifier accommodates an MM turntable, CD player, television, digital audio components, Bluetooth devices, USB storage, and network streaming sources.
The North American Y-40 is rated at 75 watts per channel into 8 ohms from 20Hz to 20kHz with both channels driven at 0.08% THD. It is also rated at 150 watts per channel into 4 ohms at 1kHz with both channels driven at 0.7% THD.
Yes. The Y-40 includes a dedicated moving-magnet phono input and ground terminal for a compatible turntable. It does not provide moving-coil cartridge support.
Yes. Its HDMI ARC connection allows audio from a compatible television to play through the amplifier and connected speakers. Unlike the Y-50, the Y-40 does not include a separate HDMI source input.
No. The dedicated subwoofer pre-out and speaker crossover controls are features of the Y-50. The Y-40 does include a stereo RCA pre-out for connection to an external power amplifier or another compatible component.
