Michell Record Clamp

Black Delrin Body · Anodized Aluminum Knob · Stabilizes Records · Reduces Resonance and Record Warp

Overview — Michell Record Clamp

The Michell Record Clamp is designed to improve vinyl playback by securely coupling the record to the turntable platter. Its black Delrin body is intended to complement the resonance characteristics of vinyl, while the anodized aluminum knob allows controlled clamping pressure to be applied around the spindle.

By improving contact between the record and platter, the clamp can help reduce the effects of minor warping and unwanted vibration. This may support more stable tracking, improved focus, and more consistent playback. The clamp is suitable for compatible straight-spindle turntables, including appropriate Michell GyroDec and TecnoDec configurations.

Black Delrin Body Anodized Aluminum Knob Collet Clamping Improves Record Contact Low-Mass Design Two Fitting Options

Highlights & Benefits

  • Helps secure the record against the platter for improved playback stability.
  • Can reduce the audible effects of unwanted vibration and minor record warping.
  • Low-mass construction minimizes additional load on the turntable bearing.
  • Delrin body is selected for its durability, low mass, and vibration-control properties.
  • Available in Standard and “R” fitting versions for different spindle-height requirements.
  • Knurled aluminum knob provides a secure grip for controlled clamping.

Design & Engineering

Collet-Based Clamping Mechanism — Turning the upper knob tightens a split collet around the turntable spindle, securing the clamp without relying only on downward weight.

Delrin and Aluminum Construction — The Delrin body keeps mass low while supporting vibration control. The anodized aluminum knob provides durability and a secure adjustment surface.

Low-Mass Design — At approximately 70 grams, the clamp adds relatively little weight compared with heavier record weights.

Two Spindle Fittings — The Standard version is intended for spindles extending at least 6.5 mm above the record. The “R” fitting is intended for shorter spindles extending at least approximately 5 mm.

Perfect For

  • Vinyl listeners who want to improve record-to-platter contact.
  • Record collections containing slightly warped or uneven LPs.
  • Compatible straight-spindle turntables, including selected Michell GyroDec and TecnoDec configurations.
  • Turntable systems where low-mass resonance control is preferred over a heavy record weight.

FAQ — Michell Record Clamp

How do I choose between the Standard and “R” fitting?

Measure how far the spindle extends above the record. The Standard fitting is intended for approximately 6.5 mm or more, while the “R” fitting is intended for shorter spindles measuring approximately 5 to 6.4 mm.

Is the clamp safe for suspended turntables?

Its low-mass design adds less bearing and suspension load than many heavy record weights. Turntable compatibility should still be confirmed before use.

How does the clamp reduce resonance?

The clamp improves contact between the record and platter, helping limit movement and vibration. Its Delrin construction also helps keep the accessory lightweight.

How should the clamp be installed?

Place the record on the platter, position the clamp over the spindle, and turn the upper knob until the collet grips securely. Use only enough pressure to hold the record firmly in place.
