The Magnepan 30.7 Floorstanding Speaker (Pair) is a statement, four-panel (two panels per side), four-way
ribbon/quasi-ribbon line source loudspeaker designed to deliver a vast, free-standing soundstage with exceptional coherence,
speed, and low coloration. Magnepan describes the 30.7 as a reference-level system that reduces the sense of the speaker
as a sound source, emphasizing lifelike timbre and spatial realism on voice and acoustic instruments.
To help accommodate real rooms, the 30.7 includes adjustable midbass control, and Magnepan notes that
placement and setup are key to achieving the intended balance of scale, imaging, and bass linearity.

Highlights & Benefits
Line-source scale — large-format dipole radiation can produce an expansive, room-filling presentation with convincing height and depth.
Ribbon speed and transparency — true-ribbon high frequencies plus quasi-ribbon midrange preserve detail, air, and tonal nuance.
Placement flexibility for the bass panels — Magnepan notes the bass panels can be positioned to support strong bass performance, while the tweeter/midrange panels can be placed for imaging.
Room-tuning advantage — adjustable midbass control helps manage midbass excess that can occur when large woofer areas interact with smaller rooms.
Reference front end — the Magnepan 30.7 Floorstanding Speaker (Pair) is built for listeners pursuing maximum realism from two-channel playback.
Technology & Design
Four-way planar system — Magnepan’s design uses quasi-ribbon bass, a quasi-ribbon midbass coupler, quasi-ribbon midrange, and a true-ribbon tweeter to cover the full range with speed and low distortion.
Two-panel-per-side architecture — a wide bass panel is paired with a narrower tweeter/midrange panel per channel, enabling separate placement priorities (bass performance vs. imaging) during setup.
Dipole presentation — front-and-rear radiation supports a large, enveloping soundstage when given adequate space and careful toe-in.
Setup Notes
Prioritize geometry — Magnepan recommends ensuring the tweeter/midrange panel is slightly farther from the listening seat than the bass panel, then fine-tuning by trial and error.
Use stable, high-current amplification — with a nominal 4Ω load, robust power and current delivery are beneficial for dynamics and control.
Allow space to breathe — as a large dipole, the 30.7 benefits from thoughtful distance to boundaries for depth, layering, and tonal balance.
FAQ
Is the 30.7 only for very large rooms?
Magnepan notes the large bass panels can create midbass excess in small rooms, but the 30.7 includes adjustable midbass control to help manage room interaction. Placement and setup remain critical.
What is the driver topology?
A four-way, full-range ribbon design with quasi-ribbon bass, quasi-ribbon midbass coupler, quasi-ribbon midrange, and a true-ribbon tweeter.
What warranty applies?
Limited warranty: 5 years to the original owner, and 1 year on the ribbon tweeter (non-transferable).
