Purist fixed-output DAC • USB 32/384 • DSD256 (DoP) • MQA 8× • AES/EBU + Coax + Optical
The Hegel D50 is a dedicated, no-compromise digital-to-analog converter built around a simple idea: do one job exceptionally well. There’s no network streaming platform, no preamp stage, and no variable output— just a quiet, high-precision conversion path designed to pull out detail, space, and timing without adding edge or glare.
“The Raven” name nods to its focus on clarity and insight—turning digital data into a natural, engaging musical presentation.
Focused conversion, nothing extra — The D50 is built as a dedicated DAC (no streaming module or volume-controlled preamp section), keeping the internal architecture optimized for conversion and noise control.
Input-specific capability — AES/EBU and coaxial S/PDIF support up to 24/192 (plus DSD64 (DoP) on AES/EBU and coax), while optical S/PDIF supports up to 24/96. USB unlocks the full capability up to 32/384, DSD256 (DoP), and MQA 8×.
System-friendly fixed outputs — Choose either the balanced XLR or unbalanced RCA fixed line-level outputs (both specified at 2.5 V) to match your amplifier/preamp input preference.
No. The D50 is a standalone DAC only. You’ll connect a streamer, transport, TV, or computer via its digital inputs, then feed your amplifier or preamp from the D50’s fixed analog outputs.
The D50’s analog outputs are fixed. Use your integrated amplifier, preamp, or active speakers to control volume.
If you’re using a music server/computer, USB provides the highest supported resolution. For transports/streamers, AES/EBU or coaxial are excellent choices; optical can be ideal when electrical isolation is helpful.
The D50 offers both balanced XLR and RCA fixed outputs, so it integrates easily with most two-channel amps and preamps. If you want help choosing the right connection method for your source and cable run length, we can guide you.
