High-performance center channel • High-Velocity Folded Ribbon AMT tweeter • dual 5.25" mid/bass drivers • dual 6.75" × 8" quadratic planar low-frequency radiators • 20–250W recommended amplification
The GoldenEar SuperCenter XL Center Channel Speaker is designed to deliver clear, natural dialogue, expansive dynamics, and impressive low-frequency extension from a relatively slim center-channel enclosure. Positioned between the compact SuperCenter X and flagship SuperCenter Reference, the SuperCenter XL is particularly well suited to larger home theater systems where greater output capability and a fuller presentation are desired. At the heart of the SuperCenter XL is GoldenEar's High-Velocity Folded Ribbon AMT tweeter, partnered with two 5.25-inch cast-basket mid/bass drivers. Two 6.75 × 8-inch quadratic planar low-frequency radiators enhance bass extension without requiring a conventional port, helping the speaker deliver the clarity and impact needed for movie dialogue, soundtracks, multichannel music, and other demanding home theater material. The SuperCenter XL is particularly well suited to medium-to-large home theater systems. Its dual mid/bass drivers and dual passive radiators provide greater low-frequency extension and dynamic capability than GoldenEar's smaller SuperCenter X.
The SuperCenter XL is designed to integrate with GoldenEar floorstanding and bookshelf speakers. Its tonal balance and High-Velocity Folded Ribbon AMT technology make it an excellent center-channel choice for many GoldenEar-based surround systems.
A subwoofer is still recommended for a complete home theater system because it can reproduce the dedicated LFE channel and deepest bass effects. However, the SuperCenter XL's dual passive radiators give the center channel substantial low-frequency capability of its own.
The ideal crossover depends on the room, associated speakers, subwoofer, and system calibration. GoldenEar notes that its SuperCenter models can work well with crossover settings around 80Hz or even 60Hz, while room correction and professional calibration can help determine the best setting for a particular installation.
GoldenEar recommends amplification from 20 to 250 watts per channel. The speaker has a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, so pairing it with a quality AV receiver or power amplifier capable of comfortably driving the speaker is recommended.
