High-Performance Directional In-Ceiling Speaker • 25° Angled Driver Array • 7-Inch Wood-Fiber Woofer • 28mm Adjustable Soft-Dome Tweeter • SMC Magnet Technology • Magnetic Grille
The DALI PHANTOM M-80 A In-Ceiling Speaker delivers the performance and controlled dispersion of a traditional loudspeaker from a discreet ceiling-mounted design. Its 7-inch bass/midrange driver is angled at 25 degrees, allowing sound to be aimed toward the primary listening area instead of radiating directly downward. This directional architecture makes the M-80 A suitable for front, center, surround and height-channel applications in high-performance home theaters.
A DALI-designed paper and wood-fiber cone combines with a patented SMC-equipped magnet system to produce rich bass and a natural, low-coloration midrange. The oversized 28mm soft-dome tweeter can be adjusted independently for precise aiming and a seamless transition through the crossover region. Compass-style direction markings, spring terminals, four dogleg clamps and a magnetic grille help simplify installation and final system alignment.
Directional 7-Inch Bass/Midrange Driver — The main driver is mounted at a 25-degree angle to project sound away from the ceiling and toward the listener. This design provides more convincing front-stage and surround localization while retaining a discreet architectural appearance.
Paper and Wood-Fiber Cone — DALI’s lightweight cone material combines paper pulp with wood fibers to increase stiffness and create non-uniform breakup behavior. The result is a cleaner, more natural midrange with reduced resonant coloration.
Patented SMC Magnet System — Soft Magnetic Composite material is incorporated into the bass/midrange motor assembly to reduce hysteresis, eddy currents and other distortion-producing effects found in conventional iron components.
Oversized Decoupled Soft-Dome Tweeter — The 28mm tweeter produces higher output with less diaphragm movement and extends lower in frequency for a smoother handoff from the woofer. Its adjustable mounting allows the high-frequency coverage to be directed independently.
Yes. Its angled and adjustable driver arrangement makes it suitable for in-ceiling left, center and right channels. It can also be used for surround, rear-surround and immersive height-channel applications.
Yes. The M-80 A is a passive speaker and requires a compatible AV receiver or external power amplifier. DALI recommends amplifier power between 50 and 250 watts per channel.
The M-80 A uses an open-back design and can operate with a recommended rear volume between 15 and 100 liters. DALI identifies 25 liters as the optimum volume and offers the optional PHANTOM UNIVERSAL 25 backbox for a controlled installation environment.
Yes. The speaker includes Normal/High+ and Normal/Mid+ adjustment options, allowing the installer to tailor the high-frequency and midrange balance to the room, speaker position and grille configuration.
Backbox, pre-construction bracket, optional grille, amplifier, speaker cable and professional installation services are sold separately.
