The Audio-Technica AT-VM95EN Dual Moving Magnet Cartridge combines Audio-Technica's versatile VM95 generator with a 0.3 × 0.7 mil nude elliptical diamond stylus for improved tracking, detail retrieval and transient response. Because the diamond is mounted directly to the cantilever rather than bonded to a separate metal shank, moving mass is reduced, allowing the stylus assembly to respond more quickly to fine groove modulation.
Its dual moving magnet architecture uses separate magnets corresponding to the left and right channels of a stereo record groove, while an aluminum-pipe cantilever provides a lightweight and rigid connection to the generator. The modular VM95 body also accepts compatible AT-VMN95 replacement styli, making the AT-VM95EN an excellent choice for listeners who want a refined elliptical cartridge with a straightforward path to future stylus replacement or upgrades.
Nude Elliptical Diamond — The 0.3 × 0.7 mil elliptical profile provides more precise groove-wall contact than a conical stylus, while its nude construction reduces moving mass compared with a bonded stylus.
VM Dual-Magnet Generator — Audio-Technica positions separate magnets to correspond with the two channels of a stereo record groove, helping preserve left-to-right information with clarity and consistency.
Aluminum-Pipe Cantilever — The lightweight cantilever provides an efficient mechanical link between the stylus and generator, supporting responsive transient reproduction and accurate tracking.
Modular VM95 Cartridge Body — The cartridge body is shared across Audio-Technica's VM95 family, allowing compatible conical, elliptical, MicroLinear, Shibata and 78 RPM stylus assemblies to be fitted as system requirements change.
Both use a 0.3 × 0.7 mil elliptical profile, but the AT-VM95EN uses a nude diamond mounted directly to the cantilever, while the AT-VM95E uses a bonded stylus. The nude construction reduces moving mass and is designed to provide more responsive tracking and improved detail retrieval.
Audio-Technica specifies a vertical tracking-force range of 1.8 to 2.2 grams, with 2.0 grams as the standard recommended setting.
Yes. The direct replacement is the AT-VMN95EN, and the VM95 cartridge body also accepts other compatible AT-VMN95 stylus assemblies, including MicroLinear and Shibata options.
No. The AT-VM95EN is a moving-magnet cartridge with a 3.5 mV output and is designed for use with a compatible MM phono input or moving-magnet phono preamplifier, typically using a 47,000-ohm load.
Turntable, headshell, phono preamplifier and cartridge-alignment tools are sold separately.
