Benchmark VM95 series phono cartridge • 0.3 x 0.7 mil elliptical bonded diamond stylus • Dual Moving Magnet (VM) structure • Aluminum pipe cantilever • Threaded insert body for easy headshell mounting • Compatible with all VM95 series replacement styli
The Audio-Technica AT-VM95E Dual Moving Magnet Cartridge is the quintessential entry-point audiophile phono cartridge, delivering exceptional tracking accuracy, rich tonal balance, and low distortion at an extraordinary value. Featuring a 0.3 x 0.7 mil elliptical bonded diamond stylus mounted to an aluminum pipe cantilever, it fits deeper into record micro-grooves than standard conical styli to extract nuance and clarity across the frequency spectrum. Designed with threaded brass inserts in the cartridge body for simple top-down installation, the Audio-Technica AT-VM95E Dual Moving Magnet Cartridge utilizes Audio-Technica's dual V-mounted magnet geometry to achieve excellent stereo channel separation, making the Audio-Technica AT-VM95E Dual Moving Magnet Cartridge an ideal choice for upgrading or replacing your turntable's phono cartridge.
Key Features & Innovations
0.3 x 0.7 mil elliptical bonded stylus — the Audio-Technica AT-VM95E Dual Moving Magnet Cartridge utilizes an elliptical diamond stylus profile that follows high-frequency record grooves with significantly higher precision than conical designs.
Threaded body inserts for simple mounting — features two M2.6 threaded brass inserts integrated into the body, enabling direct mounting to headshells using only two screws without fiddling with small nuts.
Dual Moving Magnet (VM) generator design — incorporates Audio-Technica's patented dual V-shaped magnet structure aligned to match the original cutting-lathe head for enhanced channel separation and wide frequency response.
Universal VM95 series stylus interchangeability — built on the modular VM95 body, allowing seamless future stylus upgrades (MicroLine, Line Contact, or Shibata) onto the same cartridge body.
How does the AT-VM95E compare to older cartridges like the AT95E?
The Audio-Technica AT-VM95E Dual Moving Magnet Cartridge replaces the legendary AT95E, adding threaded body inserts for far easier headshell installation, improved output voltage (4.0 mV vs 3.5 mV), higher frequency response, and compatibility with the entire line of VM95 upgrade styli.
What is the recommended vertical tracking force (VTF) for the AT-VM95E?
The recommended vertical tracking force for the AT-VM95E is 2.0 grams (acceptable tracking range is between 1.8 and 2.2 grams).
Can I upgrade the stylus without removing the cartridge from my tonearm?
Yes. Simply pull off the existing ATN95E stylus unit and snap on any upgraded stylus from the VM95 series family (such as the AT-VMN95ML MicroLine or AT-VMN95SH Shibata) directly onto the installed body.
Will this cartridge fit on standard 1/2-inch mount headshells?
Yes. The AT-VM95E features standard 1/2" center spacing with threaded M2.6 brass inserts, making it compatible with almost all standard universal headshells.
