The Audio-Technica AT-VM740xML/H Headshell/Cartridge Combo Kit pairs Audio-Technica's premium AT-VM740xML Dual Moving Magnet cartridge with the lightweight AT-LT10 universal headshell, creating a high-performance package ready for installation on compatible turntables. Its nude Microlinear stylus traces intricate record-groove modulations with exceptional precision, helping retrieve fine musical information while maintaining excellent performance across the record surface.
The updated AT-VMx cartridge architecture incorporates paratoroidal coils, PCUHD copper conductors, a center shielding plate, a tapered aluminum cantilever and a rigid die-cast aluminum housing. The AT-LT10 headshell complements the cartridge with lightweight aluminum construction, OFC lead wires, elongated mounting slots and a silicone-coated finger lift, providing a convenient platform for accurate cartridge alignment and easy headshell changes.
Microlinear Groove Contact — The nude Microlinear stylus has an extremely small curvature radius that allows it to track high-frequency groove information with greater precision than conventional elliptical or conical profiles, including difficult inner-groove passages.
Paratoroidal Generator System — Audio-Technica's paratoroidal coil design improves generator efficiency, helping optimize channel separation, channel balance and transient response. A center shield plate positioned between the left and right channels further reduces electrical crosstalk.
Tapered Aluminum Cantilever — The tapered aluminum-pipe cantilever reduces moving mass near the stylus tip, allowing groove movement to be transmitted rapidly to the cartridge generator.
Interchangeable AT-VMx Stylus Platform — The cartridge body supports a broad selection of compatible AT-VMx replacement styli, allowing listeners to change stylus profiles without replacing the complete cartridge body.
The package combines an Audio-Technica AT-VM740xML Dual Moving Magnet cartridge with an AT-LT10 universal headshell. The cartridge is supplied with its AT-VMN40xML nude Microlinear stylus.
The AT-VM740xML is a moving-magnet cartridge and should be connected to a compatible MM phono input or MM phono preamplifier. Audio-Technica specifies a recommended load impedance of 47kΩ and load capacitance of 150–250pF.
The direct replacement stylus is the Audio-Technica AT-VMN40xML. The AT-VMx cartridge body is also compatible with most interchangeable stereo replacement styli in the AT-VMx family, providing additional stylus-profile options.
The AT-LT10 is a universal ½-inch headshell designed for compatible tonearms using the standard removable headshell connection. Turntable tonearm compatibility, cartridge-and-headshell mass, tracking force, overhang and alignment should always be verified before installation.
Turntable, phono preamplifier, cartridge alignment tools, stylus gauge and other system components are sold separately unless otherwise specified.
