Dual Moving Coil Stereo Cartridge • Nude MicroLinear Stylus • Solid Boron Cantilever • PCOCC Coils • Aluminum Body • 20–47,000 Hz Frequency Response
The Audio-Technica AT-OC9XML Dual Moving Coil Cartridge combines Audio-Technica's advanced OC9X moving-coil generator with a nude MicroLinear stylus engineered for exceptionally accurate groove tracing. Its narrow 2.2 × 0.12 mil contact profile follows fine groove modulation with precision, helping reduce tracing distortion and retrieve subtle musical detail, inner-groove information and high-frequency content that simpler stylus shapes may miss.
A 0.28 mm solid boron cantilever provides high rigidity with very low moving mass, while independent left- and right-channel coils use PCOCC copper in a reverse V-shaped configuration designed to reduce mechanical pressure on the stylus assembly. A rigid aluminum body, neodymium magnet and premium permendur yoke further support low resonance and efficient signal generation. With its 0.4 mV output, the AT-OC9XML is intended for high-quality analog systems equipped with a compatible moving-coil phono stage, head amplifier or step-up transformer.
Nude MicroLinear Diamond — The MicroLinear stylus uses a highly refined line-contact geometry that maintains a narrow horizontal contact radius while extending vertically along the groove wall, allowing it to retrieve fine modulation with excellent accuracy.
Reverse V-Shaped Coil Configuration — Audio-Technica aligns the two moving coils in a reverse V formation to reduce pressure on the stylus assembly and help minimize distortion during groove tracking.
High-Energy Magnetic Circuit — A neodymium magnet and premium permendur yoke concentrate magnetic energy around the coil gap, supporting efficient signal generation from the lightweight moving-coil assembly.
Pre-Threaded Aluminum Housing — Integrated M2.6 threaded mounting holes allow installation with two screws and no separate nuts, simplifying attachment to compatible headshells and integral tonearms.
The AT-OC9XML uses a nude MicroLinear stylus with a 2.2 × 0.12 mil curvature radius. Its advanced line-contact shape is designed for highly accurate groove tracing and low distortion.
Audio-Technica specifies a tracking-force range of 1.8 to 2.2 grams, with 2.0 grams as the standard recommended setting.
Yes. With its 0.4 mV output, the AT-OC9XML should be connected to a compatible MC phono input, moving-coil phono preamplifier, head amplifier or appropriate step-up transformer. Audio-Technica specifies a recommended load impedance of at least 100 ohms when a head amplifier is used.
The stylus assembly is not field-replaceable. Audio-Technica offers a fee-based Moving Coil Exchange Program for servicing eligible moving-coil cartridges rather than using a user-replaceable stylus assembly.
