Semi-Automatic • Direct Drive • 33⅓, 45 & 78 RPM • J-Shaped Tonearm • AT-VM95E BK Cartridge • AT-LT10 Headshell • Electronic Tonearm Lift
The Audio-Technica AT-LP8X Semi-Automatic Direct-Drive Turntable combines the precision and speed stability of a direct-drive system with a refined semi-automatic design created for dedicated vinyl listening. Its DC-servo motor drives a die-cast aluminum platter with rubber damping at 33⅓, 45 or 78 RPM, while the substantial chassis, adjustable tonearm and removable headshell provide the flexibility expected from a high-performance component turntable.
A 247mm static-balanced J-shaped tonearm comes fitted with Audio-Technica's AT-LT10 headshell and AT-VM95E BK Dual Moving Magnet cartridge with bonded elliptical stylus. At the end of a record, the semi-automatic system raises the tonearm to protect the stylus and record from unnecessary wear. With adjustable tracking force, anti-skate, interchangeable cartridges and broad VM95 stylus compatibility, the AT-LP8X also provides a strong foundation for future analog upgrades.
Damped Die-Cast Aluminum Platter — The substantial aluminum platter incorporates rubber damping to help control unwanted resonance while providing a stable platform for record playback.
Electronic Tonearm Lift — An electronic lift mechanism raises and lowers the tonearm through a dedicated control, while the end-of-record system automatically raises the stylus after playback.
AT-LT10 Universal Headshell — The supplied aluminum headshell provides adjustable cartridge positioning and makes cartridge changes or future upgrades easier than with a permanently integrated design.
VM95 Upgrade Platform — Audio-Technica's AT-VM95E BK cartridge can accept compatible VM95-series replacement styli, allowing listeners to move to advanced profiles such as Microlinear or Shibata without replacing the cartridge body.
You manually position the tonearm over the record and initiate playback, preserving the traditional hands-on turntable experience. When the record reaches the end, the AT-LP8X automatically raises the tonearm so the stylus does not continue riding in the runout groove.
No. The AT-LP8X provides a phono-level output and is designed to connect to a dedicated phono preamplifier or an amplifier, receiver or integrated amplifier equipped with a compatible PHONO input.
Yes. The AT-LT10 universal headshell and adjustable tonearm support cartridge changes within the turntable's specified weight range. The supplied AT-VM95E BK cartridge can also accept compatible VM95-series replacement styli for a simple performance upgrade.
Yes, the turntable supports 78 RPM. However, traditional 78 RPM records generally require a stylus designed for their wider grooves rather than the supplied AT-VM95E elliptical microgroove stylus. A compatible 78 RPM stylus should be installed for proper playback.
External phono preamplifier, amplifier, speakers, 78 RPM stylus, upgraded cartridge and other accessories are sold separately unless otherwise specified.
