Fully Manual Belt Drive • 33-1/3 & 45 RPM • VM520EB Dual Moving Magnet Cartridge • J-Shaped Tonearm • Adjustable VTA • 20mm POM Platter • 40mm MDF Chassis • Built-In MM/MC Phono Preamp
The Audio-Technica AT-LP7 Fully Manual Belt-Drive Turntable is designed around Audio-Technica’s long history in phono cartridge engineering, combining a carefully isolated belt-drive system with a substantial chassis, precision tonearm and premium VM-series cartridge. Its sensor-monitored DC motor maintains accurate platter rotation at 33-1/3 or 45 RPM, while a 20mm-thick polyoxymethylene platter and 40mm MDF chassis help suppress unwanted resonance and low-frequency acoustic feedback.
The supplied VM520EB Dual Moving Magnet cartridge is mounted to Audio-Technica’s lightweight AT-HS10 headshell and uses a 0.3 × 0.7 mil bonded elliptical stylus. A static-balanced J-shaped tonearm with metallic gimbal suspension, precision bearings, adjustable tracking force, anti-skate and height adjustment provides extensive cartridge setup flexibility. The built-in switchable phono stage supports both moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges, allowing the AT-LP7 to connect directly to systems with or without a dedicated phono input.
40mm MDF Anti-Resonance Chassis — The substantial medium-density fiberboard plinth provides a rigid, well-damped foundation designed to reduce low-frequency feedback and mechanical vibration.
Precision J-Shaped Tonearm — Inspired by classic Audio-Technica designs from the 1960s and 1970s, the static-balanced J-shaped arm uses a metallic gimbal suspension and precision bearings to minimize tracking error.
VM-Series Cartridge Architecture — The included VM520EB uses Audio-Technica’s Dual Moving Magnet design, positioning separate magnets to correspond with the left and right groove walls for accurate stereo reproduction.
Cartridge Upgrade Flexibility — The removable universal headshell, adjustable tonearm height and broad supported cartridge-weight range allow the turntable to accommodate many compatible MM and MC cartridges beyond the factory-installed VM520EB.
Yes. The AT-LP7 includes a switchable built-in phono preamplifier with selectable moving-magnet and moving-coil modes. It can also output a conventional phono-level signal for use with an external phono stage.
The AT-LP7 is supplied with an Audio-Technica VM520EB Dual Moving Magnet stereo cartridge mounted to an AT-HS10 lightweight headshell. The cartridge uses a 0.3 × 0.7 mil bonded elliptical stylus.
Yes. The removable headshell and adjustable tonearm height make cartridge changes straightforward. Audio-Technica specifies an applicable cartridge-and-headshell weight range of 15 to 20 grams.
Audio-Technica’s U.S. product page currently lists the original AT-LP7 as unavailable. Audio-Technica now offers the newer AT-LP7X as the current model in this position of its turntable lineup.
