The Arcam CD5 CD Player brings ARCAM's decades of digital audio engineering to the contemporary Radia series. Designed for listeners who want a dedicated component for their physical music collection, the CD5 plays conventional audio CDs along with compatible CD-R and CD-RW discs while using carefully selected components and an ESS ES9018 digital-to-analog converter to deliver clean, detailed stereo playback.
Beyond conventional CDs, the CD5 can play compatible music files from data discs and USB mass-storage devices, including high-resolution WAV and FLAC files up to 24-bit/96kHz. A stereo RCA analog output allows direct connection to an integrated amplifier or preamplifier, while coaxial and optical digital outputs make it possible to use the CD5 as a dedicated disc transport with an external DAC or digitally equipped amplifier.
ESS ES9018 Digital Conversion — The CD5 incorporates an ESS ES9018 DAC to handle digital-to-analog conversion for its stereo RCA outputs, giving the player a high-quality internal conversion stage without requiring an external DAC.
ARCAM Digital Audio Engineering — ARCAM has developed dedicated Compact Disc players since introducing its Delta 70 in 1986. The CD5 applies that experience with carefully selected modern components and materials optimized for music playback.
Expanded Digital Music Playback — Support for data CDs and USB mass storage extends the CD5 beyond traditional Red Book discs, making it possible to play compatible downloaded and ripped music collections from the same component.
Radia Industrial Design — The CD5 uses ARCAM's contemporary Radia design language with aluminum front, top, side and rear panels, allowing it to visually integrate with matching Radia amplifiers and streaming components.
The CD5 supports standard audio CDs, CD-R and CD-RW media. CD-R and CD-RW discs can contain conventional audio or compatible data files.
Yes. The CD5 incorporates an ESS ES9018 DAC and provides a stereo RCA analog output, so it can connect directly to an integrated amplifier or preamplifier without requiring an external DAC.
Yes. Compatible WAV and FLAC data files can be played at up to 24-bit/96kHz. The CD5 supports 16-bit through 24-bit files and sample rates from 32kHz through 96kHz, depending on the file format.
Yes. In addition to its analog RCA output, the CD5 provides coaxial RCA and optical TOSLINK digital outputs. These can feed a compatible external DAC or an amplifier with digital inputs.
