Flagship Stereo Class-AB Power Amplifier • 400W/Ch into 8Ω • 600W/Ch into 4Ω • Up to 800W/Ch into 2Ω • True Dual-Mono Design • 16 Bipolar Output Devices Per Channel • Made in Canada
The Anthem STR Power Amplifier is a reference-level two-channel amplifier engineered to provide tremendous power, low distortion and authoritative control for demanding high-end loudspeakers. Delivering 400 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 600 watts per channel into 4 ohms with both channels driven, plus up to 800 watts per channel into 2 ohms, the STR offers the headroom required to reproduce everything from delicate musical detail to explosive dynamic peaks with exceptional composure.
At the heart of the STR is a true dual-mono Class-AB architecture featuring two independently wound toroidal transformers and sixteen bipolar output devices per channel. Anthem combines this formidable power supply with a cascoded complementary-feedback input stage, Advanced Load Monitoring, direct-connected output stages without rail fuses and sequence-controlled soft turn-on, creating a stereo amplifier designed for uncompromising high-performance music systems.
Dual-Mono Power Supplies — Each amplifier channel is powered by its own independently wound toroidal transformer, helping the STR maintain channel separation and consistent power delivery when both loudspeakers demand substantial current simultaneously.
Cascoded Complementary-Feedback Input Stage — Anthem uses eight low-noise bipolar input devices in a complementary active-load cascoded-feedback configuration. Critical transistors are hand-selected and matched to minimize distortion while maintaining excellent linearity and bandwidth.
Direct-Connected Output Architecture — The amplifier sections connect directly to the power-supply capacitor bank without conventional rail fuses, helping reduce output impedance and making stored power immediately available during demanding musical transients.
Soft Turn-On & Intelligent Power Control — A sequence-controlled startup manages inrush current, while trigger and audio-signal sensing provide flexible automatic power control for dedicated stereo and integrated home theater installations.
The STR delivers 400 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 600 watts per channel into 4 ohms with both channels driven. Anthem also rates the amplifier for up to 800 watts per channel into 2 ohms, with the 2-ohm maximum specified for up to three seconds because of the exceptionally high current draw.
Yes. The STR uses a true dual-mono architecture with independently wound toroidal transformers for the two amplifier channels, providing each channel with a dedicated high-current power source.
No. ARC Genesis is not built into the power amplifier itself. Pairing it with the Anthem STR Preamplifier provides ARC Genesis room correction, advanced bass management, DAC functionality and system control.
The Anthem STR Preamplifier is its natural companion, with matching cosmetics and system architecture. The STR Power Amplifier can also be used with other high-quality stereo preamplifiers and compatible A/V processors through its balanced XLR or unbalanced RCA inputs.
Preamplifier, XLR/RCA interconnects, speaker cables and loudspeakers are sold separately unless otherwise specified.
