12-Channel Distributed Audio Amplifier • Up to 6 Stereo Zones • 75W/Ch into 8Ω • 150W/Ch into 4Ω • 280W Bridged • 1U Rack Design • Six Dedicated + Two Global Analog Inputs
The Anthem MDX-12 Distribution Amplifier brings Anthem's high-performance amplification to whole-home and multi-room audio installations in an exceptionally compact 1U chassis. Twelve amplifier channels can power as many as six independent stereo zones, with 75 watts per channel available into 8-ohm speakers and 150 watts per channel into 4-ohm loads for confident performance with architectural, outdoor and conventional loudspeakers.
Designed as a streamlined alternative to Anthem's matrixed MDX models, the MDX-12 provides six dedicated analog zone inputs along with two selectable global analog inputs. This architecture makes it ideal for custom installations using a separate audio matrix, automation processor or centralized source system. Channels can also be bridged to deliver up to 280 watts into 8 ohms when a zone requires additional power.
High-Efficiency Amplifier Architecture — The MDX-12 is engineered to deliver substantial power from a compact enclosure while maintaining efficient operation across all twelve channels.
Bridgeable Channel Pairs — Selected channels can be combined to deliver up to 280 watts into an 8-ohm load, providing additional flexibility for larger rooms or more demanding speakers.
Up to 1,000 Watts of Power-Supply Capability — Anthem's compact power-supply design supports high output across the twelve amplifier channels while fitting inside the receiver-height-saving 1U enclosure.
Active Thermal Protection — Fan-assisted cooling, multiple thermal sensors and integrated protection circuitry monitor current, temperature and voltage to support reliable operation in demanding custom installations.
The MDX-12 provides twelve amplifier channels and can power up to six conventional stereo zones. Channels may also be configured differently when an installation requires bridged amplification.
Anthem rates the MDX-12 at 75 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 150 watts per channel into 4 ohms. A bridged channel pair can provide up to 280 watts into 8 ohms.
No. Unlike the MDX-8 and MDX-16, the MDX-12 intentionally uses a simplified architecture without built-in matrix switching. It provides six dedicated analog zone inputs and two global analog inputs for connection to external sources, matrices or control systems.
Yes. Although designed primarily for distributed audio, Anthem also identifies the MDX-12 as a useful solution for adding extra amplifier channels to compatible home theater systems.
Audio sources, external audio matrix or automation controller, analog interconnects, speaker wire, loudspeakers and network/control equipment are sold separately unless otherwise specified.
