The Acoustic Energy AE1 40th Anniversary Edition Bookshelf Speakers (Pair) celebrate four decades of the compact monitor that helped establish Acoustic Energy’s reputation for combining exceptional dynamics, clarity and bass performance with a remarkably small enclosure. Rather than simply recreating the original AE1, Acoustic Energy developed new drivers, crossover components and cabinet construction while carefully preserving the speed, punch and energetic character that defined the original design.
A newly developed 125mm spun aluminum mid/bass driver works with a 29mm anodized-aluminum dome tweeter and classic twin front reflex ports to deliver a powerful, highly detailed presentation from a compact cabinet. Modern RSC™ constrained-layer construction reduces unwanted enclosure vibration, while luxurious ten-layer high-gloss finishes give the AE1 40th Anniversary Edition a suitably premium appearance for reference stereo systems and serious listening rooms.
Spun and Hard-Anodized Aluminum Mid/Bass Cone — The 125mm driver retains the straight-sided spun-aluminum concept central to the original AE1, with a hard ceramic-like anodized coating on both sides for greater stiffness and controlled breakup behavior.
29mm Ferrofluid-Cooled Aluminum Tweeter — A larger voice coil and shallow aluminum dome improve power handling and dynamics, while a substantial rear chamber helps lower resonance and absorb rearward energy.
Low-Order Anniversary Crossover — Inspired by the original AE1 Signature, the crossover uses high-quality components and relatively low-order filtering to preserve natural timing, punch and a lively musical presentation.
RSC™ Twin-Port Cabinet — The heavily braced 18–22mm HDF enclosure incorporates Acoustic Energy’s constrained-layer HDF/bitumen construction along with twin internally flared front reflex ports.

No. Acoustic Energy preserved the defining principles and sonic character of the original while developing new drivers, crossover components, ports and cabinet construction using modern materials and manufacturing techniques.
The speaker has a 6-ohm nominal impedance, 87dB sensitivity and 150-watt power-handling rating. A high-quality integrated or power amplifier capable of comfortably driving 6-ohm loudspeakers is recommended.
Yes. Dedicated rigid speaker stands are recommended so the tweeter can be positioned near seated ear height and the loudspeakers can be properly spaced from room boundaries for optimum imaging.
Speaker stands, amplifier, speaker cable, source components, delivery and professional setup are sold separately unless otherwise specified.
