Flagship Class A Tube Line Stage • Patented GreenForce Power Supply • Two NOS 12AU7 Tubes • Balanced and Unbalanced Connectivity • Home Theater Bypass • Made in Pennsylvania
The Backert Labs Rhythm 1.4 Preamplifier is a flagship tube line stage created for listeners who want the dimensionality and tonal beauty of vacuum tubes without sacrificing speed, transparency or dynamic authority. Its proprietary pure Class A gain circuit uses two selected NOS 12AU7 tubes and operates without global or local negative feedback, allowing music to emerge with natural texture, precise timing and an expansive soundstage.
Backert Labs combines its patented GreenForce power supply with premium internal components, an exceptionally low output impedance and a substantial aluminum-and-brass chassis. Five source inputs, four main outputs, a fixed record output and home-theater bypass make the Rhythm 1.4 easy to integrate into sophisticated two-channel and mixed-use systems. Each unit is built to order in Pennsylvania, with a typical production lead time of approximately 10–14 business days before shipment.
GreenForce Power-Supply Architecture — Backert Labs’ patented GreenForce design avoids the large banks of electrolytic capacitors commonly used in conventional preamplifiers. Premium film capacitors and low total capacitance allow the power supply to react quickly to musical transients.
Dynamic Linearity Gain Circuit — The Backert Labs Rhythm 1.4 Preamplifier employs a proprietary Class A circuit that achieves low distortion and extremely low output impedance without global feedback, local feedback or a conventional cathode follower.
Two-Tube Signal Path — Two selected NOS 12AU7-type vacuum tubes provide the active gain. Their relatively low operating stress promotes long tube life, while the magnetically secured top access panel makes replacement and tube experimentation more convenient.
Aluminum-and-Brass Construction — The chassis is machined from solid aluminum, while a heavy brass bottom panel supports the circuit board and adds mechanical stability. A custom toroidal transformer with separate windings for each channel further supports low-noise operation.
Yes. The Rhythm 1.4 is built to order. The typical lead time is approximately 10–14 business days before shipment, although production time may vary depending on demand, finish selection and parts availability.
No. The Backert Labs Rhythm 1.4 Preamplifier is a line-level preamplifier. A turntable must be connected through a separate moving-magnet or moving-coil phono preamplifier.
Yes. The dedicated home-theater bypass allows the front-channel power amplifier to be controlled by an AV receiver or surround processor when watching movies or television.
The Rhythm 1.4 uses two 12AU7 tubes or suitable equivalents, including properly tested ECC82 and 6189 types. Low-noise tubes selected for preamplifier use are recommended.
Source components, phono preamplifier, power amplifier, interconnect cables, replacement tubes and upgraded power cord are sold separately.
