Even if you live in a city with “clean” and consistent power supply through wall outlets, you can never predict when lightning will strike (literally). The manual for this thing says that if your house is directly hit by lightning, you don’t have to do anything if this surge protector continues to function normally. It is meant to withstand a direct strike.
As far as benefits of “power conditioning,” I may have a tin ear, but I don’t hear a difference. However, I do. believe this protects delicate electronics from spiking service. And, it’s worth it for that.
